We Do Not Care Club Meeting

Hello and welcome to all new and existing members of the Silvis Public Library’s chapter of the We Do Not Care Club (WDNC). This is a club for all women going through perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. We, like our founder—influencer Melani Sanders—are putting the world on notice that we simply just do not care much anymore.
Based on Melani’s videos and book, these monthly meetings are a safe space for women to talk, share, listen, and laugh. We may also have the occasional speaker. Refreshments provided. No registration necessary.

Cooking with Catalina: Pan de Muerto

Join Catalina as she cooks up traditional Mexican dishes. This time it will show us how to make Pan de Muerto, “Bread of the Dead,” a sweet bread made for Día de los Muertos. It is baked to honor loved ones who have passed. She’ll be sharing her recipes and showing us how it’s done. Recipes will be available. Limited to the first 20 participants. We’re excited for our most popular event, Trunk or Treat! 30 businesses/organizations will host trunks and give away candy. The first 800 kids will receive a goody bag! Snack packs, popcorn, and bottled water will be provided to the first 800 guests - including adults! Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and trunks. Please note that we will not be handing out hotdogs this year. Sponsored by Silvis Walmart, Friends of the Silvis Library, and Godfather’s Pizza.

Note: If you can’t make it to a registered program, you need to cancel with us. Many of our programs have waiting lists. Last Monday Book Club: The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder by David Grann

The Wager is a very well researched narrative non-fiction of the story of a 1740s British Naval expedition. It’s a page-turning story of shipwreck, survival, and savagery, culminating in a court martial that reveals a shocking truth.
